Prime Minister of Ethiopia Visits Save a Child’s Heart

Save A Child’s Heart (SACH) was honored to greet the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn, and his wife, the First Lady H.E. Mrs. Roman Tesfaye Abneh, at the SACH House on June 7, 2017.

Prime Minister Dessalegn mingled with all the children of the SACH House as well as the Ethiopian nurses to express their shared admiration for their native country.

The Prime Minister was also introduced to Dr. Yayu Mekonnen, a young Ethiopian surgeon training in the SACH program at Wolfson Medical Center who will return to Ethiopia as the country’s first pediatric cardiac surgeon. He shared the details of his experience of the last five years of his training, and how it has created a home for him in Israel at the SACH House.

Simon Fisher RED, Executive Director of SACH, welcomed the Prime Minister and his accompanies, and conveyed his appreciation for the partnership between Israel and Ethiopia that has and continues to strengthen since the organization’s establishment 22 years ago.

Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn also spoke at the SACH House to show his gratitude for the organization and the opportunities it provides for the growth of not only a child, but of a country. He is eager to see what the future holds for both Israel and Ethiopia.
