Since 1995, Save a Child's Heart has treated over 6,000 children suffering from congenital and rheumatic heart disease. Approximately 50% of the children are from the Palestinian Authority and Gaza, Iraq, and Morocco, more than 40% are from Africa, and the remainder are from Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Americas.
Save a Child's Heart trains medical personnel from partner sites around the world at the Sylvan Adams Children's Hospital in Israel in all facets of pediatric cardiac care. When they return home, they are better equipped to deliver quality care to children in their local community.
Dr. Stella Mongella recently completed our two year training program in pediatric cardiology, and is now better equipped to treat children in her home country of Tanzania, a country with only one cardiac center and 16,000 babies born with heart conditions per year. Dr. Mongella's training was generously funded by Canadian donors.
